Code of a Sista Hood: Style Queen - Soleil Errico

Britt James

At Sol Sista Co., we’re all about celebrating women who are guided by their own passions. And when it comes to blazing your own trail, Soleil Errico is the real deal. This three-time WSL Longboard World Champion isn’t just a powerhouse on a board; she’s a force of nature with a style all her own.

Right now, Soleil is down under, chasing waves and spreading her stoke across Australia. And of course, we couldn't let her leave without slipping her some of our BUTTA BLOCK SPF 50+ because, well, world champs need the best sun protection too!

We had to snag some time with this ocean queen to get her thoughts on passion, perseverance, and what it really means to stay true to yourself—both in the water and out. I hope you enjoy this one!

What motivates you to keep going after a tough loss?

After experiencing a tough loss,  I use it as an opportunity to learn what I could’ve done differently to put myself in a better position to win. Learning from your mistakes is what helps you grow  and become a better surfer in the end.

What’s the best thing ever about surfing?

There are just way too many incredible things about surfing. The feelings you experience on a wave are far beyond what words can tell. If you know, you know.  But I would say one of my favourite feels is hanging 10 through a critical section and the board elevating underneath you. Also, I would say experiencing a sunset from the view of being out in the ocean is a favourite as well.

When you hit a rough patch, how do you care for your mental health?

I am very lucky to have a strong support system (friends and family) backing me when I'm struggling through tough times. It helps to talk to them about how I'm feeling and they help guide me through it. It also helps me to distract myself with other things i enjoy like playing my guitar/ singing , dance , and going out with friends.

What do you see in the next five years for your future?

In the next 5 years I still see myself competing. I have a lot more goals that I want to accomplish before I close that chapter. I definitely want to keep traveling and exploring new places, preferably with empty lineups haha. I also love working with kids in and out of the water, as well as the next generation of longboarders. I have done some mentoring and coaching with them ,  and definitely want to continue doing that. Helping and guiding the next generation is what it’s all about!

Describe yourself in three words.

Creative, silly, grounded

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to women who look up to you?

Work hard to be the best surfer you can be, but enjoy the process along the way. Longboarding is such a beautiful sport that doesn’t get enough recognition, but that’s okay.  Just do you, enjoy the process and it will all line up the way it’s supposed to
